Focus and Scope

Al-Talim is a peer-reviewed journal focused on publishing original research and scholarly works in the field of education. The journal serves as a platform for promoting academic discussion and understanding of the evolving landscape of education. Its aim is to contribute to the growth of knowledge, values, and teaching practices that can influence positive educational change. Manuscripts addressing contemporary issues in education are especially encouraged. The journal publishes a wide range of content, including:

  • Teaching: Research that explores innovative teaching methods, classroom strategies, and the role of educators in fostering student learning and engagement.

  • Educational Development: Studies focusing on the development and improvement of educational systems, institutions, and programs to enhance the quality of education at various levels.

  • Educational Management: Articles related to the administration, leadership, and management of educational organizations, including schools, universities, and other educational bodies.

  • Curriculum: Research on the design, implementation, and evaluation of curricula that shape what students learn, along with the pedagogical frameworks that guide curriculum development.

  • Philosophies of Education: Scholarly exploration of the fundamental theories and philosophies that underpin educational practices, such as constructivism, critical pedagogy, and other educational ideologies.

  • Educational Approaches: Papers examining various pedagogical approaches, including modern, traditional, and alternative models of teaching and learning, and their impact on educational outcomes.

Peer Review Process

Al-Ta'lim is an academic journal published by the Faculty of Islamic Education and Teacher Training at the State Islamic University Imam Bonjol in Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. Research articles submitted to this journal undergo a peer review process, where each submission is evaluated by at least two anonymous reviewers.

Role of Peer Review in Editorial Decisions

The peer review process plays a crucial role in helping editors make informed decisions about the publication of articles. Additionally, reviewers offer valuable feedback that can assist authors in refining and improving their papers.

Timeliness in Review

If a reviewer believes they are not qualified to assess the manuscript or that they will be unable to provide timely feedback, they should promptly inform the editor and excuse themselves from the review process.

Confidentiality

Manuscripts submitted for review must be handled as confidential materials. Reviewers are not permitted to share or discuss the content with others unless explicitly authorized by the editor.

Objectivity and Professionalism

Reviews should be objective and free from personal bias. Reviewers are expected to offer constructive feedback, clearly expressing their opinions with solid reasoning and evidence.

Proper Citation and Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should point out any significant works that the authors have not cited but are relevant to the topic. If a reviewer identifies any overlap between the manuscript under review and previously published works, they should notify the editor. Any previously published observation, argument, or idea should be properly cited by the authors.

Conflict of Interest and Disclosure

Reviewers must not use any privileged information or ideas gained during the review process for personal benefit. They should recuse themselves from reviewing articles in which they have a conflict of interest, such as personal, professional, or institutional ties to the authors.

Final Decision and Plagiarism Screening

The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of articles, taking into account the comments provided by the reviewers. Plagiarism detection is conducted using tools like Turnitin and/or Viper. Accepted research articles will be published online following the completion of the peer review process. The journal accepts articles written in either English or Arabic.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate and unrestricted access to its content based on the principle that making research freely available to the public fosters a greater global exchange of knowledge.

All articles published under Open Access will be freely available for everyone to read and download, permanently. There are no fees for authors, and all services are completely free. Please be aware that no money or any form of payment should be given to anyone claiming to be part of the "Al-Ta'lim" journal team. We are committed to working closely with our author communities to choose the most appropriate licensing options, which for this journal is currently defined as follows:

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
